Every meaningful project begins with a question.
For me, that question was simple:
Why twelve minutes?
Numbers have always fascinated me. Some people hold onto a lucky number,
while others cherish a number tied to a meaningful memory.
I began to wonder: Is there a number that feels universal, one that humanity itself shares?
The answer kept circling back to twelve.
Across civilizations, twelve has always carried weight.
In astronomy, calendars, and timekeeping, it appears again and again:
Twelve zodiac signs.
Twelve months.
Twelve hours of day and night.
Ancient Babylon, Egypt, Rome, China, India,
and Islamic traditions all embraced twelve as a rhythm of existence.
Mathematically, twelve is practical, highly divisible, balanced, and woven into trade and measurement.
The number also appears throughout religions and mythologies:
The Twelve Apostles.
The Twelve Tribes of Israel.
The Twelve Imams.
The Twelve solar deities of Hinduism.
The Twelve Olympian gods.
The Twelve Nidānas of Buddhism.
Even legends speak of twelve knights at King Arthur’s Round Table and twelve paladins of Charlemagne.
Twelve became more than a number.
It became a shared language of order, community, and cosmic structure.
Beyond myth and sky, twelve shapes the systems we live by.
It defines harmony in music, sets measures in daily life, marks boundaries in language,
and stands at the heart of justice through twelve-member juries.
There was also a human reason.
Twelve minutes felt long enough for reflection, yet short enough to remain focused.
Twelve sits quietly in the middle—balanced, focused, and human.
And then there is the clock itself. Circular. Endless. Twelve marks the cycle.
That cycle is the heartbeat of this project:
Present → Preservation → Future
Each recording lasts twelve minutes.
No edits.
No filters.
Just a living message, captured as it truly was, carried forward in time.
Twelve minutes is not just a measure of time.
It is memory.
It is rhythm.
It is humanity.
And perhaps, it is a gift from the present to the future.
A small moment today, preserved for a life yet to come.

12分―その一瞬一瞬がなぜ重要なのか
あらゆる意味のあるプロジェクトは、ひとつの問いから始まります。
私にとって、とてもシンプルなものでした。
なぜ、12分なのか。
私は、昔から数字に魅了されてきました。
ある人にとっては幸運の数字があり、
ある人にとっては大切な思い出と結びついた数字があります。
そんな中、私はふと思いました。
人類そのものが共有しているような、普遍的な数字は存在するのだろうか。
その答えとして、何度も行き着いたのが「12」でした。
古代から現代に至るまで、
12という数字は世界中の文明において特別な意味を持ってきました。
天文学、暦、そして時間の概念の中で、それは繰り返し現れます。
12の星座。
12か月。
昼と夜を分ける12時間。
古代バビロニア、エジプト、ローマ、中国、インド、そしてイスラム文化圏に至るまで、多くの文明が12を存在のリズムとして受け入れてきました。
数学的に見ても、12は非常に実用的な数字です。多くの数で割ることができ、均衡があり、古くから交易や計量の仕組みに深く組み込まれてきました。
宗教や神話の世界にも、その象徴性は繰り返し現れます。
キリスト教の12使徒。
イスラエルの12部族。
イスラム教シーア派における12イマーム。
ヒンドゥー教における12の太陽神。
ギリシャ神話の12神。
仏教における12因縁。
さらに伝説の世界では、アーサー王の円卓の12騎士や、
シャルルマーニュ大帝に仕えた12勇士の物語も語り継がれています。
神話や天空の世界だけではありません。
12は、私たちの日常を支えるさまざまな仕組みの中にも息づいています。
音楽に調和を与え、暮らしの単位を定め、言葉の構造を形づくり、
さらには12人の陪審員によって司法の根幹を支える制度にも見ることができます。
しかし、12分という時間には、もうひとつ理由がありました。
それは人間そのものに関してです。
12分という時間は、自分自身を振り返るには十分な長さがありながら、
集中を保つには短すぎない時間だと感じたのです。
長すぎず、短すぎない。
理性的で、均衡があり、人間らしい時間です。
そして、もうひとつ。
時計そのものにも意味があります。円を描きながら終わることなく巡り続ける時計。
その循環を示す節目が、12であり、このプロジェクトの鼓動です。
現在 → 保存 → 未来
私たちの記録は、12分間です。
編集はしません。加工もしません。
ただ、その瞬間に存在した言葉や想いを、ありのままに記録し、未来へ運びます。
12分は、単なる時間の長さではありません。
記憶。
リズム。
人間そのものです。
そして、もしかすると――
現在から未来への贈り物なのかもしれません。
今日という小さな瞬間を、これから訪れる誰かの人生のために残しておくことで。
