There Is Still More Time. Or Is There?

The Twelve Minutes We Almost Never Take. Why This Is Earth built a service around the one thing we all keep postponing.

We say it all the time. Time is limited.

A deadline at school. A deadline at work. A goodbye we didn't expect.
And eventually, life itself.

Everyone knows this.

And yet we have a remarkable talent for believing there is still more time left.

“I'll do it tomorrow.”

“Maybe next year.”

“We'll talk another time.”

“I'm sure we'll meet again.”

While we tell ourselves these things, time keeps moving without waiting for permission.

We know we will grow old one day. We know we may have to say goodbye to our parents. We know our own lives will eventually end too. But there is a real difference between knowing something and actually feeling it in your chest.

I am not a doctor or a scientist. But one question often stays with me.

If we truly lived every day aware that it would one day end,
could we still live an ordinary life?

Could we still make plans for tomorrow, raise children, chase new dreams, or fall in love with someone?

Maybe we are only able to live fully because, in some small way, we forget how limited our time is.

I sometimes think forgetting is one of the quiet mercies of being human.

Most days, we don't think about our future selves at all. We think about today's schedule, tomorrow's tasks, and next week's plans. That alone is already enough to fill a life.

But something shifts the moment someone decides to leave words behind for the future.

For the first time, they look at today through the eyes of someone who hasn't arrived yet.

Who do I want to receive these words?

When should they receive them?

What do I actually want to leave behind?

These are questions we rarely ask ourselves, and once asked, they become impossible to ignore. The future stops being something we can quietly postpone.

That is why I wanted these twelve minutes to become one of the most honest conversations a person can have with themselves.

In a hundred-meter sprint, an athlete never wastes even a fraction of a second. Every step, every breath, every heartbeat is aimed at the finish line.

I believe these twelve minutes work the same way.

They are not a marathon.
They are a sprint.

Because the time is limited, people become focused. Because the time is limited, people become honest with themselves. Because the time is limited, people start choosing only the words that actually matter.

All of us move through life believing there is still more time ahead. Maybe that's exactly why, every so often, we need to stop and picture the person we will one day become.

The twelve minutes of This Is Earth exist for exactly that reason.

Forgetting may be one of the quiet mercies of being human. But I hope we never forget the words we truly wish to carry into the future.

That is why I built these twelve minutes.

Because someday isn't a date on a calendar.
It's a moment that has to be made.

This Is Earth

This Is Earth
